Dr. Jerold Justo provides specialized care for conditions of the brain, spine, pituitary gland, and skull base. His practice combines broad neurosurgical experience with fellowship training in complex skull base and endoscopic surgery in Paris, France. He works with multidisciplinary teams to help patients understand their diagnosis and choose an appropriate treatment plan, including minimally invasive approaches when suitable. He currently leads neurosurgery services in Pasig and Kalibo and contributes to resident training, research, and multidisciplinary pituitary care at The Medical City.

Skull Base Neurosurgery

Dr. Jerold Justo completed his subspecialty training in Skull Base Neurosurgery in Paris, France, under the mentorship of Professor Sébastien Froelich, Chief of Neurosurgery at Lariboisière Hospital – Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris. During his fellowship training, he also worked at the Experimental Neurosurgical Laboratory in Paris, where he was involved in anatomical dissections, research and advanced surgical training. In addition, he served as faculty at Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif (IRCAD) in Strasbourg, France, for its prestigious biannual 360° Skull Base Course, contributing to the education of international surgeons in endoscopic and microsurgical techniques.

Skull base neurosurgery focuses on treating tumors and other conditions located deep at the base of the brain—an area surrounded by critical nerves and blood vessels. These procedures require highly precise techniques to safely access complex areas while minimizing injury to normal brain tissue.

Many cases are now treated through minimally invasive approaches, such as endoscopic endonasal surgery, where tumors are removed through the nose without external incisions.

Building Brain and Spine Services in Aklan

Dr. Jerold Justo performed Aklan’s first brain tumor surgery in February 2022 and later established the Brain & Spine Center at Panay Health Care, where he currently serves as Center Director.

The Center is developing coordinated local care for brain tumors, head injuries, stroke, pituitary and skull-base conditions, spine disorders, and neurodiagnostic services. The goal is to help patients receive specialist assessment closer to home, with referral to Manila or partner centers when highly specialized treatment is needed.
